Man vs Horse Marathon

2025 Date: Saturday 14th June.
Born from a pub argument, this legendary race pits runners against horses over 22 miles of mountains and rivers. The atmosphere in the town square is electric.

World Bog Snorkelling Championships

2025 Date: Sunday 24th August.
Competitors must swim two lengths of a peat bog trench using flippers only—no swimming strokes allowed. It is a carnival of the absurd, with fancy dress (think ironing boards and pantomime horses) alongside serious athletes chasing world records.

The Real Ale Wobble

2025 Date: 15th November.
A mountain bike event marking the start of winter. The twist? The checkpoints are stocked with local real ales.
