The Royal Welsh Show

Welsh Farm Livestock

Sioe Frenhinol Cymru

For four days in July, all roads lead to Llanelwedd. Located just 30-40 minutes north of Llandovery, the Royal Welsh Show is not just an event; it is a temporary city and the undisputed highlight of the year.

2025 Dates: Monday 21st – Thursday 24th July.

The Spectacle

Attracting over 200,000 visitors, this is one of the premier agricultural events in Europe. The sheer volume of livestock is staggering, with over 7,000 entries competing for championships.

Highlights for Visitors

  • The Main Ring: The theatre of the show. Watch the chaotic beauty of the "Grand Parade" of prize-winning animals, interspersed with high-octane displays.
  • The Shearing Pavilion: The atmosphere here rivals a rugby stadium. Thousands of spectators cheer on international teams shearing sheep at blistering speeds.
  • The Food Hall: A showcase of excellence. Sample PGI Welsh Lamb, Teifi Valley cheeses, and small-batch spirits.

Strategic Tip: If you love horses, try to attend on Wednesday. Known as "Cob Day," it showcases the Welsh Cob, a national icon.
