The Great Llandovery Duck Race

Date: August 30th, 2026 (Bank Holiday Sunday).
A true community party. Thousands of yellow rubber ducks are released into the river near the castle. It’s a race to the finish line, accompanied by food stalls, music, and a brilliant atmosphere. Sponsor a duck for £5 and join the fun!

World Bog Snorkelling Championships

Date: August 30th, 2026.
Location: Llanwrtyd Wells (15 mins). If you want something truly unique, head to the "World Capital of Alternative Sports." Competitors swim through a peat bog trench wearing snorkels and flippers. It attracts international media and fancy dress competitors.

Carmarthen River Festival

Date: Mid-July 2026.
Features the unique Coracle Races. Coracles are traditional fishing boats made of woven wood and hide, shaped like walnut shells. Watching locals race these unstable craft is a spectacle of balance and heritage found nowhere else in the UK.
