Welcome to Brecon Oak. While our luxury retreat offers the perfect sanctuary for peace and quiet, the surrounding Towy Valley and the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) are bustling with local culture this season.

If you are staying with us over the coming weeks, we have hand-picked four unique events and activities that capture the true spirit of Welsh heritage and rural life.

1. The Towy Valley Vintage Show

Date: Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th May 2026
Location: Caeau Gleision, Llandeilo, SA19 6RT

A true staple of the local calendar, the Towy Valley Vintage Show is a nostalgic celebration of rural machinery and country life. Expect to see beautifully restored vintage tractors, classic cars, and stationary engines. Beyond the machinery, there are craft stalls, local food vendors, and a wonderful community atmosphere. It is a fantastic family day out that showcases the agricultural history of the region.

2. Llandovery Monthly Farmers Market

Date: Saturday 30th May 2026
Location: Market Square, Llandovery
Distance from SA20 0RU: Less than 1 mile (approx. 2 minutes drive or a short walk)

There is no better way to stock the larder at Brecon Oak than by visiting our local farmers market. Held in the historic heart of Llandovery, this market brings together the finest producers from across Carmarthenshire. You can find artisan cheeses, organic meats, locally brewed ales, and handmade preserves. It is the perfect opportunity to meet the makers and bring some authentic Welsh flavours back to your holiday rental.

3. Dark Sky Guided Star-Gazing at Libanus

As the nights remain relatively mild, June is a wonderful time to experience why the Brecon Beacons is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve. These guided sessions offer a deep dive into the constellations visible above Wales. Even if you prefer to stay closer to home, the lack of light pollution at Brecon Oak offers a spectacular view of the Milky Way, but the expert-led sessions at Libanus provide a professional telescope experience that is hard to beat.

4. Antiques and Vintage Weekend
