The Fan Dance 2026
The Ultimate Standard
The Brecon Beacons are inextricably linked with the history of UK Special Forces. The "Fan Dance" is the world’s oldest and most famous Special Forces test march. It is the primary barometer for potential recruits, and now, you can test yourself on the very same course.
The Challenge
The route is 24km (15 miles) of brutal terrain starting from the Storey Arms (just 25 minutes from Brecon Oak).
- The Ascent: An immediate, lung-busting climb up Pen y Fan (886m).
- Jacob's Ladder: A precipitous drop down harsh stone steps.
- The Roman Road: A rough track demanding total concentration.
- The Return: You must reverse the route, climbing back up Jacob's Ladder—a vertical wall of stone that is the true test of your resolve.
