The Heart of Wales Line
Llandovery station is a key stop on the Heart of Wales Line, widely considered one of the most scenic railway journeys in the United Kingdom. Even if you have arrived by car, we highly recommend taking a trip on the train to experience the landscape from a different perspective.
The Journey to Cynghordy
For a short but spectacular adventure, take the train north to the next stop, Cynghordy.
The line is a marvel of Victorian engineering. You will cross the magnificent Cynghordy Viaduct, an 18-arch curve of stone that soars high above the valley floor. It is a breathtaking moment as the train seems to float over the countryside.
Immediately after the viaduct, the train plunges into the Sugar Loaf Tunnel, cutting deep beneath the mountains to connect Llandovery with the wilder landscapes of Powys.
